Association Director Catriona Ferguson was invited by the Federation of Publishers Guilds of Spain to attend LIBER in Barcelona on her way to this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair. She says, “LIBER is focused on Spanish speaking markets and predominantly features publishers who are engaged in those territories. It’s a smaller fair than Frankfurt which made it a little less overwhelming and overall there was a very friendly and warm vibe to the event. Publishers I met with were very interested particularly in New Zealand children’s books and books on the natural environment. There is also an interest in titles related to STEAM subjects, a growing curriculum area in a number of Spanish markets. There was enthusiasm to learn more about our local publishing, both educational and trade and I’m expecting a number of Spanish publishers to drop into our Frankfurt stand to learn more about the books we have available!”
