Featured series
Lift Education is the developer of several instructional series for Aotearoa New Zealand’s Ministry of Education. This world-class, pedagogically innovative content is unique to New Zealand and includes Ready to Read, the School Journal, and Connected. Lift works closely with teachers, students, and subject matter experts to develop these materials, which support all learning areas of The New Zealand Curriculum and cater for a wide range of curriculum levels. Contributors to these publications include many well-known New Zealand authors, illustrators, and photographers.
Pacific language resources
Lift Education works with ministries of education and other government departments and NGOs within Aotearoa New Zealand and around the Pacific to develop materials in Pacific languages. These include:
- Pasifika dual-language series consists of over 120 dual-language, early reading flip books in five Pacific languages (gagana Sāmoa, gagana Tokelau, lea Faka-Tonga, reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani, and vagahau Niue) and English. The texts and online resources in this series are specifically designed to help Pacific children in English-medium schools by building on the strengths of all their languages. This series was awarded the SunPix Pacific Peoples Award for Pacific Service Excellence, 2018.
- Pacific Literacy and School Leadership Programme series contains more than sixty books in Pacific languages and dialects, as well as English. Developed in collaboration with several large organisations, including the Institute of Education of the University of the South Pacific and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, this set of literacy resources is specifically designed to support improvement in student literacy outcomes in the Cook Islands, Tonga, and the Solomon Islands.
- Tautai Ake presents 100 books in gagana Tokelau for use by students in Tokelau schools. All the books are supported with listen-along audio versions recorded by fluent speakers of gagana Tokelau. A feature of some of the books is that they incorporate kakai (traditional stories) utilising a Tokelau understanding of how a story is structured and what a story is.
- Pacific dual-language resources for early childhood is a series of print and online resources designed to support the language and literacy learning of Pacific children in early childhood services. These resources are based on the second language acquisition principle that utilising a child’s heritage languages helps to strengthen English language and literacy. The resources include dual-language picture books, audio files, ebooks, and kaiako (teacher) and family support materials in gagana Sāmoa, gagana Tokelau, lea faka-Tonga, te reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani, and vagahau Niue, as well as English.

Lift Education works closely with Aotearoa New Zealand’s Ministry of Education, as well as the government departments of many Pacific countries including Ministry of Education, Cook Islands; Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, Solomon Islands; Ministry of Education and Training, Tonga; the Tokelau Department of Education; and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia.
